Ujima! Collective Work and Responsibility Workshop

The focus of this workshop is the 3rd principle of Kwanzaa, Ujima, which means from the words of Kwanzaa Creator Maulana Karenga. “To build and maintain our community together and make our brothers’ and sisters’ problems our problems and to solve them together”.  Doula Roundtable members learn the importance of their moral obligation to maternal child health through the lens of Black culture, lived-experiences, resiliency, and self-preservation.  During this workshop participants learn that achievements in infant maternal health is not seen through the lens of a person, institution, or an organization, but collectively through the realization and acceptance of genuine, non-coerced, collective agreements. Doulas practice collaboration skills that allow them to work effectively and efficiently toward the common goal of enhancing and improving positive birth outcomes.  Ujima is achieved through the spirit of  Harambee, which means in the Swahili  language  Let’s all work together!

Doula Roundtable Jewelry Exchange

We are asking all doula’s to bring one piece of jewelry that they are willing to exchange with another doula in attendance. We recommend either a bracelet or pair of earrings, but whatever you would like to exchange is up to you!
